Below is Olly's entry to our 100:T-shirts project

"As I struggled with the design I wore the t-shirt in the studio, this gave it use and purpose, function over fashion. I washed and wore it a number of times, slowly wearing down the material's integrity. As an item of clothing, like anything, it will deteriorate over time due to wear and tear and if this process was made continuous the t-shirt would eventually become disused.
I painted the front of the t-shirt to have a blank canvas to start with, I then scrubbed most of the paint off with boiling water to leave only a patina of white paint to work over. This was merely to suggest it's weakening from use.
The design I decided on is drawing from a short series of studies on structural fundamentals I did recently. 64 single cubes arranged to make up in their entirety one whole cube, equalling 65 cubes. I drew the design transparent to show the structures complexity. Yet, this is really quite a simple form, one made up of many more of the same shape. This suggest the standardisation of products and structural design in the modern world."
