James Harper

James is an artist and curator working primarily within the realm of interaction. Originally from Wrexham, James studied in Cardiff before moving to Liverpool where he is currently a studio member of The Royal Standard.

Originating in a fine art context, James' art works are very personal and strongly affected by feelings of nostalgia, whilst taking influence from street art, graphic design and popular culture. James presents his work through various media such as performance and photography whilst incorporating elements such as sound and scent. Through his work James tries to create situations and images which evoke memory whilst questioning the sexual and inquisitive elements of childhood.

James' curatorial practice runs parallel and in tandem with his artistic practice and has led him to founding JazzCakes.
